Larry J. Forsyth - Vicksburg High School Class of '68
Tina (Schneider) Forsyth - Vicksburg High School Class of '69
Boy meets girl in High School, they become a couple, marry, live in the town they grew up in, have children, volunteer for the community, have successful careers, enjoy retirement and live happily ever after. Just another of those "feel good" stories that Hollywood loves? Perhaps. But this isn't fantasy; it is the true story of our own Larry J. Forsyth (Class of '68) and Tina Schneider (Class of '69).
 After dating as teenagers at Vicksburg High School Larry and Tina married and have remained in Vicksburg to work and raise a family.
Many may remember Tina's father Arle Schneider who was the town veterinarian for so many years. Tina worked for her father for several years after high school. Although she once operated her own daycare business it was her love of animals that brought her back to her roots. For the past eleven years she has been the owner and Master Groomer of 'Vicksburg Dog Grooming' on W Ave.
Larry is currently retired after working for many years at the Upjohn Company (later Pharmacia & Upjohn, then Pfizer). After high school, he worked for Jack Fryling Masonry and Clausing Corporation before landing an apprenticeship in pipefitting and pipe welding with Upjohn. Larry is currently concentrating on his golf game at Angels Crossing in Vicksburg.
The Forsyths say they are very grateful to the Vicksburg Community Schools Administration, teachers and staff, for providing a safe learning environment and quality education for their children, preparing them well for college. Graduating from VHS, their son Drew recently graduated from Hope College and daughter, Abby from Kalamazoo College in 2007.
Larry and Tina have often expressed that they feel extremely lucky to be residents of such a caring, giving Community like Vicksburg.
But the relationship between the Forsyths and our community has not been one-sided. Tina and Larry have given back to Vicksburg in many ways. Tina has held positions in the Vicksburg Co-op Pre-School, Tobey Elementary PTO, Girl Scouting and is currently serving her third term on the Vicksburg School Board. Larry has been in the Vicksburg Rotary for several years, worked for ten years in Boy Scouting and is very active with the Vicksburg Flower Fest. Together they have been involved with the Rotary Showboat for over thirty years and have often contributed their time and talent on stage and behind the scenes in the Main Street Review. Larry and Tina actively show their support for the Performing Arts Center and the Vicksburg Community School Foundation.
Larry and Tina love to travel and have had the opportunity to visit every state in the U.S, except Hawaii – which is no doubt on their travel schedule after Tina retires.
