Tony/Payton Lindeman Memorial Fund
Dear Friends,
As many of you might have already heard, Tony Lindeman, our high school art teacher has suffered a terrible loss with the unexpected death of his wife Lisa. He is now faced with raising their two year old daughter alone, covering her funeral expenses, and paying off medical bills from his recent bout with cancer. On top of grieving, these financial stresses are overwhelming for him. We can't imagine anyone more deserving of our support than Tony in these difficult days ahead.
We have set up an account at Educational Community Credit Union (ECCU). Its official name is the Tony/Payton Lindeman Memorial Fund. There are several ways to donate. You may write a check to Tony Lindeman and send it to any ECCU branch. The address of the main branch is: 1551 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. They will not accept account transfers (yours to his) or credit card payments. The ECCU Memorial Account will only exist for 90 days. It will then be closed, because that is how they operate these types of accounts.
We are hoping that we can raise enough money to help Tony lessen his burden and allow the healing process to begin. We know we have amazing people in the Vicksburg Community. We hope we all can rally behind one of our own and hope you will find it in your heart to consider contributing to Tony's account.

Thank you,
Vicksburg High School Staff
Thank You, Vicksburg Community!
Thank you, Vicksburg Community, for demonstrating your strong support of our schools in the May 6 school election.
Vicksburg's Non-Homestead Operating Millage was renewed by almost a 2:1 margin, which will allow us to continue to collect the full minimum State Foundation Allowance.
In addition, incumbents Skip Knowles and Carol Lohman were returned to the School Board.
The majority (57%) of Kalamazoo County voters agreed to renew the KRESA County Enhancement Millage for three years. The District will utilize the proceeds for necessary capital expenditure (roofs, parking lots, technology, repairs and renovations, and traffic flow improvements which cannot otherwise be afforded.
Our hats are off to our voters, and our commitment to you is continued excellence and fiscal integrity.
Board Meetings Have Gone Paperless
Vicksburg Community Schools now publishes their Board packets on-line for you to read or print. Not only does this keep more of our community involved, but it also saves the District both time and money. Our next meeting is Monday, June 9, at the Vicksburg Administration Building at 8:00 p.m.
Please join us prior to the June 9 Board meeting from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. as we honor eight VCS staff members who are retiring at the end of this school year. Our sincere appreciation for their caring, dedication and professionalism shown to students, fellow staff members, administration, and Board of Education members.

Vicksburg Community Schools Activates Instant Alert® System for Parents
The Vicksburg School District has implemented a system to notify parents within minutes of school closings, early dismissals, emergencies and other important school information. Each family can choose to be notified by home telephone, cell phones, work phones, e-mail, pager or PDAs in any combination. Families can access the system to maintain accurate and updated contact information.
Currently, each family's home phone is in the system. The District is asking everyone to register with the new alert system if you have not already done so. The registration web site is https.instantalert.honeywell.com. Please click on the links below for complete details and registration instructions. You can also contact your school office for assistance.
All school and event cancellations will still be on your local television and radio stations.
Please note that this does not take place of notifying your building office or the Transportation Department if you have any changes in contact, caregiver, or transportation information. All the alert will do is notify you in the event of school closings and other important school information.
